ABOUT REBECCA
Rebecca Albeck is a passionate and experienced documentary filmmaker. She has directed one feature film and numerous shorts.
Rebecca has a beautiful way of weaving vulnerability with warmth, of juxtaposing historical archival material with the stories that bring them to life, and of portraying the nuances inherent in every person’s sharing. She is a visual storyteller with heart and meaning.
Rebecca completed a Masters in Documentary Filmmaking from the Victorian College of the Arts School of Film and Television (University of Melbourne) in 2006.
She has multiple credits for on-screen character research, historical and material research and archive research on series productions for the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission) and SBS, Australia’s multicultural broadcasting service, and on feature documentaries, the most recent being Monsieur Mayonnaise (2016).
Since 2017 Rebecca has made a number of documentaries for Melbourne’s Kadimah Jewish Cultural Centre and National Library.
Rebecca is also an experienced psychologist. Merging her skills and passions she now works as a freelance writer, researcher, interviewer and filmmaker.

The Sister of Significant Suffering was awarded the Omnilab Script Award in 2006 and was voted Best Short Film at the Detroit Docs International Film Festival 2007.
